Defending America’s Streets: The Deployment of National Guard by Columbia President

25

As tensions continue to rise across the United States, one can't help but wonder how our great nation will maintain law and order. In the wake of widespread protests and riots, Columbia University's President Minouche Shafik recently announced her decision to deploy the National Guard to maintain peace on campus. While some may applaud this move, others are left questioning the motives behind it.

As a staunch conservative, I firmly believe in the protection of our constitutional rights and the preservation of law and order. However, the deployment of the National Guard on a university campus raises serious concerns. This move not only goes against the fundamental principles of academic freedom, but it also sets a dangerous precedent for the militarization of our educational institutions.

Let's not forget, the National Guard is primarily trained for combat situations, not for dealing with peaceful protests. Their presence on campus could escalate tensions and potentially lead to unnecessary violence. Additionally, the cost of deploying the National Guard falls on the taxpayers, who are already burdened with the economic impact of the ongoing pandemic. Is this really the most efficient and effective solution for maintaining peace on campus?

Furthermore, President Shafik's decision to deploy the National Guard seems to be based on a flawed understanding of the situation. In her statement, she claims that the campus has been a target for violent protests. However, this assertion is not backed by any evidence. In fact, the protests at Columbia have been peaceful and have not resulted in any significant damage or violence.

It is clear that President Shafik's decision to call in the National Guard is politically motivated. It serves as a distraction from the real issues that are plaguing our society. Instead of addressing the root causes of these protests and finding solutions, she has chosen to use force and suppress the voices of those who are peacefully protesting for change.

As a conservative, I believe in upholding the rule of law and supporting our law enforcement agencies. However, the deployment of the National Guard on a university campus goes beyond the scope of their duties. It undermines the authority of the local police and creates a militaristic environment that is not conducive to a healthy learning environment.

In conclusion, the decision to deploy the National Guard by Columbia President Minouche Shafik is a misguided and politically driven move. It not only violates the principles of academic freedom but also sets a dangerous precedent for the militarization of our educational institutions.

As citizens, we must demand accountability from our leaders and question their actions that go against our values and beliefs. Let us stand together and defend America's streets without compromising our fundamental rights and freedoms.

  1. Columbia University is not an American institution.Sadly the CCP supplies money and curriculum as we now can see.The students coming out of these Communist schools have been brain washed completely since Kindergarden in Democrat ruined schools and universities finish the destruction on young minds

  2. Presidents of anti-American colleges and universities have the ability to call out the national guard, since when? Should not the governor be required for such acttions? Follow, protect and save The Constitution. The communist-democrat party must bedestroyed

    • The National Guard was called out to campus’s during the Vietnam War. The rioting got so bad the local police were unable to contain the students.
However, now the rioting is more against the US than against Johnson’s war.

  3. Every day it seems that the current resident of the White House shows his true self.
Calamity Joe is nothing more than a career political hack, pretending that he is a leader and maybe even a visionary of a future society. Too bad that his “vision” does seems increasingly rejected by 70% of the electorate. Soon we should pass the 80% mark.

Whatever physical & mental issues he hides behind, when he does utter an amazingly twisted version of a given event, he isn’t able to recognize the TRUTH – even when it is right in front of him. He is a lying, deceitful individual whose only dramatic moments are ones in which he uses his stock-in-trade gesture of pointing his finger away from himself to ANYONE who is convenient and attempts to blame others for all his failures.

  4. No moderation needed. With as bad a job as he has done, this a calmly stated and balanced (as much as possible) response to identify the Path of Destruction he is taking and the cost of which will need to be repaid by millions voters and non-voters and their families. What a Legacy!

  5. Campus unrest isn’t a new thing. Neither is the deployment of the National Guard, think “Kent State”! Also, remember the disastrous outcome!

As long as Universities continue to indoctrinate rather than educate, unrest will continue! Open and diverse dialogue is healthy. One sided left leaning diatribe is not healthy!

Since Kent State, the National Guard receives training in handling civil unrest. They are used nation wide when local law enforcement is unable to handle large disruptions!

  6. Who wrote this? Why didn’t the author sign his/her name? You are no conservative! You are a dem in disguise. This is no peaceful riot. Palestine has, since the beginning of time wanted to kill every Jew. This is not protecting our ally Israel as we’ve always done. This is one-sided and you know it. Your argument that the Guard should not be deployed is erroneous. Back it up with signing your name at the end of the article instead of hiding behind false claims that you’re a conservative. You are not! Ai?

  7. The president of Columbia University doesn’t have the authority to deploy the National Guard. Only the governor of the state of New York has that authority.

  8. Arrest the out of town and paid protesters , students with ID’s only allowed on campus .
Next , bran bags and rubber bullets

  9. Personally herald the move. I lived during the Kent state uprising and people were shot and killed by the National Guard at that place. These insurrections against Israel and the USA have got to stop. Satanic control Jesus wins

  10. As a retired National Guard Officer, I had experience in crowd control and my unit was trained for crowd control. The author of this article doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

  11. you’re wrong, and you’re no conservative. If were a conservative or if you studied the situation, you would know that these are not peaceful demonstrations. They are not students. They are outside agitators funded by terrorist coming into college campuses. get your head out of the sand and steady the situation Yes, absolutely use the National Guard.

You’re wrong, and you’re no conservative. If were a conservative or if you studied the situation, you would know that these are not peaceful demonstrations. They are not students. They are outside agitators funded by terrorist groups coming into college campuses. They are attacking Jewish students. Get your head out of the sand and steady the situation Yes, absolutely use the National Guard.

  13. send them back to the place they are protesting for, I don’t think they would like that, they think America is so bad, then leave !!

  14. Americans, do you really understand Islam?

QUESTION: May an old soldier/cop with many years of combating all manner of terrorists ask all you folks currently out there demonstrating in many different ways that you sympathize with and/or support varied Muslim causes (i.e. anti-Jew, anti Israel, pro Hamas, anti-Christian, anti-America, etc.) ask you a question? Just how much do you know about the mandates/tasks given to Muslims over 1400 years ago by the Prophet himself? Suggest all those non-Muslims feeling and/or demonstrating sympathy for any/all Muslim causes take note. Muslims were charged over 1400 years ago to rid the world of non-believers, install Sharia as the law of the land, and establish Islam as the only religion.

In 1982 a team of army officers were charged by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs after the kidnapping of General James Dozier in December 1981 by elements of the Italian Red Brigades with the tasks of assessing the primary threats to DOD personnel deployed overseas, and developing doctrine for combating the same. The team presented the results of their assessment to the Reagan administration as to the ‘Real Threat’ to DOD personnel was that presented by radical Muslims. The Reagan administration did not take the team’s assessment to heart until after over 200 military personnel were killed by a single Muslim suicide bomber in 1983. Suggest all non-Muslims consider the words of one of the army officers on that team presented below.

“Americans still feeling sympathy for radical Muslims, LISTEN UP!

As an old soldier who was involved in counter-terrorism operations targeting Muslim terrorists for most of my military career I have something to say to those among you who are non-Islamic males and/or females, and a little something extra to say to you folks who are not sure as to which gender you want to be and/or want to be with. If you support Muslim terrorists activities and/or sympathize with the Muslim community in general suggest you carefully consider my words.

After I render my remarks I challenge all non-Islamic persons to carefully study the strategies/tactics presented by Mohammad (supposedly given to him by the angel Gabriel and blessed by God himself) for Muslims to employ in order to achieve one of their primary objectives, that of ridding the world of non-believers.

If after you have completed your studies (in which you will discover just how effective the Muslim community has been over the last 1400 years in achieving their objective of not only eliminating many non-believers, but terrorizing and/or brainwashing many others into becoming ‘good little believers’) you still support Muslims over any segment of the non-Muslim community, I suspect each of you may see the Muslim world from a different position after considering my remarks rendered next.

The Muslim sympathetic males among you are want-a-be sadists, fools, and cowards. The females among you are want-a-be masochists, fools, and cowards. And for you ‘gender differential folks’ who think Christians, Jews, Conservatives, others are less than supportive of your various preferences let me share some of the more than just unpleasant experiences of my career. I cannot report the precise number of bodies of males and females I have encountered with their sexual parts rather sloppily removed. According to some of my interpreters/guides I was witness to a standard practice used to persuade the followers of Islam to follow the paths supposedly mandated by the Prophet and God for their assigned genders.

Though I cannot muster up a significant level of sympathy for those among you who have allowed various politicians, academicians, bureaucrats, and/or the media to completely load your brains with propaganda and/or pure BS; I will assist you in your conversion to Islam. Yes, believe it or not I teach classes on the eight prayers you will need to learn in order to begin your conversion to Islam (kind of my way of helping the cowards among you escape much unpleasantness). Oh, you will need to bring your own prayer rug.

Last, I do have some good news for you females who are considering conversion. When you convert to Islam you will save a ton of money on your wardrobe, makeup, education, social life, etc., etc., etc…, and most likely you will not have to work outside of your husband’s home!

Oh, one last question if you please. Imagine yourself living in an American town very close to the border of a neighboring state and you wake up one morning to the sounds of gun shots, explosions, and the screams of your neighbors. After you come out from your hiding place you learn that a mob from the neighboring state had not only destroyed many of the homes of your neighbors, but had killed, maimed, sexually assaulted, and/or kidnapped many women and children. What actions would you expect (demand) the authorities in your town and/or state to commence post haste?”
