The entire leadership of the Democrat Party – including President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – fell for the hoax in 2019 that actor Jussie Smollett apparently organized against himself, their old tweets show.
Duping the Democrats
What are now rather embarrassing tweets decrying racism and homophobia in the United States have resurfaced since Thursday when Hollywood actor Jussie Smollett, a black gay man, was found guilty of staging a fake hate crime against himself to boost his acting career.
Smollett, best known for a part on hit series “Empire”, faces up to 20 years in prison over a combined total of five different charges, including lying to police. Although, he might get away with only a custodial sentence.
Smollett continues to deny he organized the hoax attack on himself; his lawyer has vowed to appeal the guilty verdict. However, the two “perpetrators”, brothers from Nigeria, testified they have been rather close friends, and that Smollett paid them $3,500 to carry out the “hate crime.”
‘Most Gentle Human Being’
Revelations that the “hate crime” was a hoax have been known since 2019 when Chicago police started to doubt Smollett’s account of the incident.
However, the newly issued guilty verdict raised the question of how top Democrats will, in any way, own up to having been duped in this particular case. Back then, presidential candidate Joe Biden tweeted the following just hours after the Smollet “attack.”
What happened today to @JussieSmollett must never be tolerated in this country. We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie. https://t.co/o8ilPu68CM

Biden’s current vice president, Kamala Harris, declared Smollett is among the “kindest, most gentle” people that she knew. Harris also said the crime committed against him was an attempt of “modern-day lynching.”
.@JussieSmollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery.
This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate.

House Speaker Pelosi invariably joined the chorus of those unwittingly getting duped by the hoax; she described the “racist, homophobic attack” as an “affront to our humanity.”
The “horrible attack” was also denounced by another Democrat presidential hopeful at the time, Pete Buttigieg, today’s Transportation Secretary.
While the struggle for basic hate crime legislation continues here in Indiana, this horrible attack calls all Americans to stand against hatred and violence in all its forms. https://t.co/AfXJt8DpOf

After Smollett was found guilty of staging the hoax hate crime on Thursday, President Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., shared a comprehensive collage of the tweets from leading Democrats condemning what has now been proved to have been a lie.
In another tweet, Trump Jr. declared “we got him”, the perpetrator who “did this heinous act”, i.e. Jussie Smollett himself, the supposed victim of the attack.
In still another tweet mocking Smollett and those who got tricked into supporting him back in 2019, Trump Jr. responded to an old post by civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton. Trump Jr. said he agreed with the latter’s demand that whoever is guilty in this case “must face the maximum.”

I’m with you Al, I think all of America is with you on this one.

I’m just happy to live in a country where people will go to jail for attacking a gay black man…
There’s absolutely no place for that shit in America, or anywhere else, and I am happy the perpetrator was brought to justice.— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) December 10, 2021
